About

As you can tell from the title of this blog, I like books. OK. That’s an understatement. I’m crazy about books, especially older ones. Books, words and ideas excite me, and I want to share that excitement with others. Hopefully I can do that through this blog.

As for me, I’m a 50-something guy who still doesn’t know what he wants to be when he grows up. If he grows up. My wife and I own and run our own small┬ábusiness here in central Arizona. God blesses us continually.

The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that YOU should write a preface for our new book about Johnny Appleseed. Please call or email me for details.

Adulthood is overrated, so don’t bother growing up. I have a some old books. I was wondering if you could help me. I have a volume of “Ambulance No. 10″ which is not only signed by him, but has a note written on the inside page to “my good friends the Carl Bantlay’s.” dated May 3rd 1949. Plus, in the back is a plea for donations and volunteers wanted foldout with a note from the author saying “over two million dollars in World War I – considerable more in WWII.” Do you have any idea how I go about getting this book assessed? The on-line book ratings don’t account for letters, etc.

Amen to that, my friend! As to your old book, I would recommend finding a local, independent book shop that deals in collectible books. They usually have access to certain websites and other resources. It can take some digging and some time. I have a signed, first edition of “The Art of Seeing” by Aldous Huxley that I still have no idea of what the value is. Keep trying, though. It sounds like a wonderful book. I love things from that period!

Thank for stopping by and sampling my posts. Happy Memorial Day.

There doesn’t seem to be any in So. Fla., according to their association.

Have you tried the Yellow Pages? Even an independent bookseller may be of some help.

I have a cousin who lives in Florida. I had a great uncle who lived in Jacksonville many years ago. Someday I hope to visit. Don’t know if I could handle the humidity, though!
